Some coffee drinkers like to save their iced coffee for the summer, but I think cold coffee is delicious all year round. Only I don’t want to wait overnight for the cold brew’s smooth classic coffee taste. Who does?

We don’t have to wait with a Ninja coffee maker! It’s not your average coffee maker, and with a Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System, I can make cold brew coffee in minutes. With a Ninja Coffee Bar or Dual Coffee Maker, I can turn my pot of coffee into a carafe with ice in minutes.

If you haven’t checked out the all-in-one coffee maker yet, head over to our reviews of all the most popular Ninja Coffee Makers on the market. Then come back here for my cold brew iced coffee recipe.

Before we dive in, let’s look at the difference between iced coffee and cold brew.

Iced Coffee Versus Cold Brew

Is there any difference between iced coffee and cold brew? Yes!

The iced coffee method brews coffee hot and then chills with ice, while the cold brew never meets heat. The cold brew process typically takes several hours to a day but has a lower acidity level and smoother flavor.

So what am I making with my Ninja Coffee Bar? A little bit of both, with none of the wait!

The Ninja Auto IQ Technology will saturate the coffee grounds to extract an iced coffee concentrate that won’t taste watered down while retaining the smoother flavor of cold brew. It uses something called the Thermal Flavor Extraction Technology System.

Translation? Darned good coffee, hot or cold!

So let’s get started on our cold brew iced coffee drink.

Ninja Coffee Bar Cold Brew

What You’ll Need

  • your favorite 12-ounce mug
  • 3-4 Ninja Single-Serve Scoops of your favorite ground coffee
  • your Ninja Coffee Bar System
  • ice (optional with the Hot and Cold Brewed System)

Step 1:

Whether I’m making hot coffee or iced coffee, I always like to start by prepping my Ninja Coffee Bar or coffee maker. Start by plugging it in and powering it on. Then fill the removable water reservoir up to the water level you need.

Add 3-4 scoops of coffee grounds into the brew basket.

I always use the Ninja Single-Serve scoop because it’s the perfect coffee ground portion tool. But if you don’t have one, measure 3-4 tablespoons instead.

If you don’t want to use fresh grounds, don’t worry! If you have the Ninja Dual Coffee maker, you can use a K-cup pod instead.

Step 2:

Next, fill your cup of coffee with ice. The Ninja Coffee Bar Auto IQ’s “Over-Ice” setting will extract a concentrated brew with a rich coffee taste at the correct temperature that doesn’t cause that watered-down flavor. It really is the most versatile coffee maker on the market!

Set your cup on the multi-serve cup platform. We definitely won’t need the intelligent warming plate for our cold brew coffee!

If you’re using the Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System, you’re welcome to skip the ice.

Do you have leftover morning coffee? Freeze it overnight and use coffee ice cubes instead!

 Step 3:

Finally, it’s time to brew.

Whether you’re using the Ninja Coffee Bar, Dual Coffee Maker, or the Hot and Cold Brewed System, turn the dial to the brew size you need. The Ninja Coffee Bar has four size options, while the DualBrew Combination Coffee maker has nine!

Don’t forget to slide the drip stop toggle to ‘open’ on your Ninja Coffee Bar.

Then select the Over Ice Brew or Cold Brew Setting.

It’s that easy! In minutes, delicious iced coffee will fill your cup.

What else can you do?

Try some of these ideas if you want more than a simple iced coffee recipe.

Make it a half or full-size carafe.

Use 3-4 carafe scoops of ground coffee and make it an iced carafe instead.  Remember to select the 43-oz glass carafe or half carafe brew size.

Make it an iced latte.

Just add cold milk directly to your cup. If you want to feel like you’re having coffee at your favorite coffee shop, use the built-in milk frothing arm to create frothy milk and add it to the cup before brewing.

If you don’t have the built-in milk frother or Ninja Coffee Bar Easy Milk Frother, then a handheld frother works too.

Make it an iced macchiato.

Instead of selecting the Over Ice Brew setting, switch the brew type to Specialty Brew. This setting creates a rich, concentrated coffee that makes the best classic espresso-based specialty coffee drinks. Finish it with a splash of cream or pour frothy milk over the top.

Make it anything you want!

You can add any syrups or flavors you want to make amazing coffee poured over ice. Then sit back and relax in your very own coffee house.

Happy Caffeinating!
