By: Tony R. https://www.roastycoffee.com/stovetop-percolator/#comment-235 Wed, 08 Mar 2017 00:07:00 +0000 http://www.roastycoffee.com/?p=1468#comment-235 Though I’m not a coffee connoisseur, I’ve read recommendations elsewhere that brewing coffee in a French press, a.k.a. coffee press, etc. one should use 1 tablespoon ground coffee per 8 fluid ounces of boiling water and steep four minutes before decanting. Using a French press, I’ve left the coffee in the water upwards of 10 to 12 minutes without noticeable degradation of flavor, but, unlike a percolator, such a device doesn’t continuously simmer or boil the coffee. The main reason percolators have fallen out of favor may be due to loss of aroma and flavor from continued boiling.
